Title Types Explained
We believe buyers should have clear, honest information before making a decision. Below is a simple breakdown of the title categories you may see in our inventory, what they mean, and why each may fit a different type of buyer.
Clean Title
Typically franchise dealer trade-ins. Some vehicles may show an accident on a history report, but the title itself remains clean and unbranded.
- The vehicle carries a clean, unbranded title
- No salvage or rebuilt branding
- Factory warranty may still apply when applicable
Salvage Title
These vehicles are currently branded salvage and have been declared a total loss by an insurance company.
- The vehicle has not been rebuilt or reinspected for road use
- May require repairs and state inspection before registration
- Financing, insurance, and registration rules vary by state
Rebuilt Title
These vehicles were previously branded salvage due to theft, collision, hail, flood, or another major event, but have since gone through the rebuilding process.
- Repairs have been completed
- The vehicle has passed required state inspection
- Buyers are encouraged to inspect the vehicle closely and confirm condition
Clean Title with Total Loss History
These vehicles have a clean title, but the history report will show a previous total loss claim.
- An insurance company paid out a total loss claim
- The damage was not severe enough for the state to issue a salvage title
- The title remains clean, not salvage and not rebuilt
Important Registration and Insurance Notice
Title branding, registration eligibility, financing availability, and insurance acceptance can vary by state. Buyers should independently confirm requirements with their local DMV, lender, and insurance provider prior to purchase.
